Runner.home

The year is 2072.      The place is Neo Moines, Iowa, UCAS. A bustling city built on top of the ruins of old Des Moines. Rich with the abundance of wealth from the many soybean farms in the area Neo Moines is the place to be for people with strong ties to the soy industry, not really a great place for anyone else      As the world changed and the world wide web reverted to a local web those who find themselves to be incredibly online just got weirder. Now we find ourselves on runner.home the premier place for shadowrunners in the area. It has a reputation for being home to the worst posters on this side of the Rockies and the 25th best jobs on this side of Cedar Rapids. Those who find themselves frequents of the sights are some of the most maladjusted weirdos you can find on any network and are the heroes of this story.      Tune in next week for more info. This is going to be a shadowrun style game ran in a rudimentary hack of capers I am gonna be testing out with friends. As tim

Dark Sun: Tablelands Hex Map

Image
A mildly edited version of the map found on this wonderful site  that takes into account other maps put out for the setting. The hexes are at 6 miles per hex, and I recommend cropping to certain areas when using it as this map is truly massive, and it may be discouraging to see so little progress moving across the landscape. There is also a link to a high res version as well as to a plain version of the map sans hex and markers

Humanoid Body plan Modifiers

Has the idea ever crossed your mind that in a world filled with orcs, elves, gnomes, and all other sorts of humanoids it’s weird that there would only be creatures that are a mix of human and animal? Who says a centaur cannot be half dwarf half alpaca, or that a satyr cannot be a gnome with the legs of a chicken? With these simple additions, you can have the mechanical support you need to play people that fit descriptions like that. Centauroids Base Features Size: You go up one size larger than your base size Speed: add 10ft of movement onto your base speed New Features Charge: If you move 30ft in a straight line and make an attack your crit range for that attack is increased by 1. (for example if you charge forward 30ft and make an attack roll that rolls a 19 that counts as a crit) Kick: You have powerful hooves and the ability to use them well, you can make a kick attack dealing 1d4 + your Strength modifier bludgeoning damage. Quadrupedal Build: Your climb speed is 0 due to the awkwa

Dwarven Trial of Fire: A D&D 5e Encounter

Your players have been invited into a contest run by dwarves with the goal of testing their mettle, called the Trial of Fire. It is a well-respected competition amongst the local dwarves and people who win it are held in high regard. The contest involves 32 people all getting together around a table with enough flatbread to feed them. Round after round the aspirants are given a small bowl of progressively hotter and hotter sauce that they must dip the bread into and eat. The contest goes on and on until there is one person left capable of stomaching the spices. The winner then receives a golden yarn to weave into their beard, if the winner has no beard it can be displayed on their person. Any local dwarf will treat them with some respect if they notice the yarn on their person. Bird people of any feather are not allowed to partake in the contest as they cannot taste spicy things. The sauces: Tastes distinctly of tomatoes with a small amount of vinegar. It’s bright red and smooth look

A Deck of Many Things

While I have always been enamored by the idea of a deck of many things from the second I heard about it, but unfortunately, it isn't incredibly usable. It remains a magic item drenched in the traditions of older D&D with, a design ethos that has been abandoned by current editions.     I wanted to have the first adventure of my party be centered around finding a deck of many things but I didn't want there to be a chance of a total party kill. I made my own custom deck to fit well within my setting and provide more of a sense of weirdness and wonder when drawing from the deck. The way I run it is a character declares how many cards they intend to draw, and must draw that amount 2♠: The Ocean, Character now has a voice in the back of their head urging them to go into the ocean 2♥: The Unkindness, Black birds now follow the character 2♦: The Jockey, The Character know has horse hooves 2♣: The Miner, D4 precious gemstones appear in front of the character, worth 100 GP per g
