Fire in the Hole

 

The adventurers panic and prepare for a fight, a big hairy beast with fangs bearing a sword wound appears from the darkness. Bobos attempts to cast prismatic wall but in her fear she is incapable of performing the correct arcane hand motions. Dungifer keeps steady and unleashes a bolt from the blue, 5 streams of white hot fire come forth and strike at the beast. It is driven stark raving mad by the divine. Grrunnarr sweeps in and with a mighty punch to the head knocks the beast to the ground. Radcliff comes over and slits its throat making sure the job is done. The party recoups as Grrunnarr identifies the beast as a cave troll. The party shudders recounting the horrible tales of torture surrounding cave trolls.

The party is one torch down.

As they make their way deeper into the dungeon they find a man trapped in a prison cell: Kermit the Curious, master illusionist. He has not had any food or water in three days and is desperate to get out. Radcliff easily picks the lock as second nature, not even attempting to use the keys hanging on the wall. Kermit is freed and fed and afterwards explains that he was imprisoned for being a spy when in reality he was simply feeding his curiosity. The party agrees to let Kermit come along with them as they explore more of the dungeon.

After passing through a few intersections and a few dead ends the party finds themselves a deposit of beautiful blue quartz crystals, but as they head back they hear voices. One stands out, the voice of Butcher Dargen, who had threatened to kill them with an axe just a few hours earlier.

Radcliff prepares an oil trap with a vial of oil and some twine. Bobos stands ready to unleash a stream of fire with her flaming hands spell. The tripwire trips, the disgruntled miners are coated in oil, bobos let's forth a stream of fire from her magmatic hands. The fire does its work quickly. The party collects all the gold and jewelry.

They make their way towards the west and find another elevator room. The elevator is not on their floor but they decide to use the strength of Grrunnarr to pull the elevator to their floor.
